At Witney Smile Clinic, our highly skilled team can help restore a damaged tooth with a crown.
Crowns can be used to repair and restore a tooth that has suffered damage from decay, or has become broken due to injury or trauma.
Designed to replace the visible portion of the tooth, crowns are fixed to the natural tooth structure, covering it like a protective cap. With a crown, we’re able to restore complete form and function to the tooth, while also helping to strengthen and protect it long-term.
Crowns can be crafted from various materials including composite resin and special metals such as gold. Here at Witney Smile Clinic, we use Zirconia crowns which are made from zirconium dioxide and offer exceptional durability and excellent biocompatibility.
We can also use E-max crowns which provide outstanding strength, durability and compatibility alongside a remarkably natural-looking finish that blends seamlessly with your existing teeth.
Once you and your dental team have established that a crown is the most suitable treatment for you, we’ll first anaesthetise the area being treated. Then, we’ll remove the decayed or damaged portions of the tooth and shape the remaining natural tooth to prepare it for the crown.
Next, we’ll take an impression or digital scan of your mouth, this will be sent to a dental laboratory where your completely bespoke crown will be created for you. At this stage, we will provide you with a temporary crown and once your permanent crown is ready you’ll return to us here at Witney Smile Clinic where we’ll cement the permanent crown to the tooth.
