At Witney Smile Clinic, we understand that excellent oral hygiene begins at home. We advise all patients to brush twice daily using fluoride toothpaste for two minutes, combined with daily flossing or interdental brushing. Through regular appointments with our dental hygienists, we can help develop a personalised home care routine that suits your individual needs and medical background.

This may involve targeted guidance for any orthodontic work or dental restorations you have, for instance. Alternatively, it could focus on a specific goal or aesthetic aspiration you’re working towards, such as achieving a brighter smile. We may also provide lifestyle recommendations to address particular concerns or habits that could be impacting your oral health negatively. This might mean reducing or eliminating certain foods, drinks, or tobacco use.

In-practice treatment

Regular appointments with your dentist and dental hygienist are equally essential to your home care routine for maintaining optimal dental hygiene. Routine dental examinations allow us to identify and treat existing problems, while also helping to prevent future issues. We suggest dental check-ups every 6-12 months, along with hygiene appointments every 6-12 months.

During your hygiene appointments, our skilled and experienced hygienists will carry out a comprehensive assessment of your oral health, which includes checking your gum tissue. They play a crucial role in the fight against gum disease, with the ability to identify, prevent, and sometimes treat it.
